A free fun trip to New Orleans?

I recently had a conversation with a guy who told me that he couldn't support the NOLA team asking people for money because he thought that the "kids need to work for it."

I wish I could have had him with our team this past weekend as we worked in the rain on clearing downed trees, chipping debris, planting flower beds, mulching, fixing stone stairs, replacing boards on a porch, cleaning rooms, cleaning bathrooms, pruning trees, grading a gravel driveway and checking off a whole bunch of other things as well. Our team amazed me at how well it worked together and all that it accomplished in getting a large rental property ready for its season. It was a great fund raiser and a team builder too.

Now, Monday morning we have discovered aching muscles where we didn't know we even had muscles!

If you would like to see more photos of the weekend work project you can find them in the gallery at:

This memorial day weekend will mark our last major fund raiser with our Saturday yard sale, car wash and plant sale from 8-2 pm. We will work into the night Friday sorting and pricing and then show up at 6:30 am Saturday to set up in the front corner parking lot at First Baptist Church.

Great job this weekend, NOLA team!!! I am pretty sure that if my misguided friend who was thinking you're just a bunch of kids looking for a free trip to New Orleans this summer had been working alongside us, he would be singing a different tune today.

In just 39 days we will be New Orleans bound!
