Endurance and wisdom needed

It's nearly 1030 and the kids are still going strong. Maybe it is adrenaline. We leaders, however, are getting pretty weary.

We are learning a lot about train travel! We learned that packing light is important. We learned that sitting near the bathrooms is not a good idea. We learned that we can have great conversations with people we don't know.

We're praying for a good night's sleep. It is 1045 now and all is quiet. I am thankful for answers to prayer that occurred while writing this entry. Now, if I can just get a cell signal briefly, I can send it to our blog.

Good morning, everyone. According to my chart of The Crescent, you are almost to Gainsville, GA. Please know that, without being too sappy, when I woke up this morning, you are on my mind immediately. I wonder...did they sleep? Could they get comfortable? Are they still sleeping? How will they pass the time today? Do I have to make my own coffee since Bob's not here?
In my Bible reading this morning, I asked God to give me a verse to share with you...because my words are just words, but God's Word is truth and has power! In Psalm 112, verse 9 describes people who fear God: "They give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will never be forgotten. They will have influence and honor." Sounds like what you're traveling all the way to New Orleans for to me. It also reminds me of Pastor Keith's message last Sunday about our faith in God spurring us on to good works. I wonder what God has for you to do? Remember, your work will not be forgotten by those in need. With God's help, you will make a difference.
Love, Sallie

Hey guys!!! I'm sitting here just having woken up from a nice long night of sleep and I feel kinda guilty... it must be hard to sleep very well on a train. I'm not as good of a writer as Sally is so all I'll say is that I'm praying for you all and I miss you all!

Quite a few of us family members have the schedule for The Crescent train, and are updating friends and family on where you are at any given time! There's a small army of prayers surrounding that train over every railroad tie it speeds across. You may never ride such a well-protected train again in your lives!
I'm also excited by how the timing of your departure made this trip so much more pertinent to the children in our church. (Last year, if they knew someone on the team, they knew what was happening and when you left and came back, but otherwise they were pretty clueless until camp.) Yeah, only one VBS kid that I know of made it to your send-off (and she's still sleeping it off as I write), but because VBS was missing so many of you on Friday morning, these kids ALL know where you're going and what you're going for. I know that some of them are pretty formidable prayer warriors.
I'm off to my Mom's house now, where I'll make sure there's yet another link to this blog site. And as you all wake up, I'm praying that neither the smell and activity around the bathrooms, nor the boredom of being on that train forever and a day will do anything other than build you up to prepare you for the good works that God has prepared for you to do.

Hi Guys! I hope that you are having an excellent time on the train. I am praying for you so that you have a safe train ride there, and then help as many people/houses that you can

Love,
Adam:)

Hey Scott & Robin - your family in Maine is sending you lots of wisdom & Endurance vibes. I did the Greyhound thing cross country once or twice but I only had myself to worry about. You are making great memories and doing God's work - I just got back from NOLA and I found the people incredibly friendly, resilient, and full of good humor despite their understandable anger over the government's (local and federal) handling of Katrina.

Have fun and do great works and I hope you get a good night's sleep soon!
