Your first day of work is here! I am praying that as each of you arrive at your job site, you'd really get excited about what you will accomplish this week. I pray that you'd be able to see the needs in front of you through God's eyes and with His heart for people. I've also prayed for each work team as a unit. I pray that you'd work together as one body, listening to the leader and encouraging each other. You know I can't wait to hear about your day.
In church yesterday, Pastor Keith ended his message on controlling our tongues by giving 5 practical reminders about communication. I think they're worth sharing with a group of 36 people who will be living together for over a week! (Amy A. wrote them down for me because I got to hold Andrew through the whole service!!)
1. listening shows you care
2. be polite
3. never use a gallon of words to express a spoonful of thought
4. most friction in conversation comes from using the wrong tone of voice.
5. the most important thing in communication is hearing what ISN'T being said.
I know I need those reminders!
OK--just one more thing--the picture of you all in front of the lake is absolutely beautiful, but, I would love to be able to see all of George's face instead of just some of his hair behind Jake L!
Love, Sallie

Good morning to you all. I hope you slept well and are ready to see what God has in store for you today. Last night when I was praying for you all, I was reminded of an old song. I don't remember who sung it but the chorus went like this...."Lord, whatever you ask, I want to obey you, to let my life beat with a servant's heart. Lord, whatever you ask, I know that you will give me wisdom and courage to equal the task....Lord...whatever you ask."

Each of you have a servant's heart, and I know that God will give you whatever you need to equal the task he lays before you each day...whether it is physical strength, words of encouragemnt to fellow team members, the gift of discernment (like knowing when NOT to say something), a happy spirit, a helping hand, a hug to someone who needs it.

Give someone on your team a hug today!

Love,
Val

Our neighbor just popped in and I was showing him the blog. He's excited that Dali is there working for the week.

I ran into one of Epi's classmates with her mom at the store the other day, and Mom said that one of her workmates sent three kids on the trip; she thought that was great, and was looking forward to hearing more about it when Laura comes to babysit again.

You guys are setting up even more outreach opportunities back here in Maine beyond what you do in New Orleans.

Scott, what about posting team shots on the web so we can see (for example) Dan, Rus, Sarah, Michael, Eric, Nicole and Dali together as a team to pray for them (maybe even hitting a few nails together at the work site?).

And when you get to George's team, make sure you get a full view of his head - he's awfully good at ducking almost out of sight. :-)

You're missing some awesome thunderstorms here in Maine. We still can't seem to shake them.

Safety, stamina, strength and a sweet personality through all the sweat... My prayers for you all for today.

As E, L, and I wake up to a hot muggy morning I am very mindful that what ever the temperature is here you will be experiencing a hotter day, (not to mention the hard work). We are praying for touch today! That you will be touched and touch someone else! (no poking people!!). You are all on our hearts and minds! "Daddy- we are headed to the beach with Aunt Sarah and I miss you"- Elizabeth. Have fun and we hope to see/read more!

Hey all! I just got back from a long day of work, and although my day seemed hard, it was nothing compared to the day you all had. I am very thankful that I have something special to pray for throughout the day as I sit on my mower :) I'm praying for you all and I miss you guys! Do some work for me!
