Pictures from Thursday

Dali at the Katrina - Rita Hurricane memorial. The posts mark the rising water levels during the flooding.

Mudding and Sanding at Al's.
Friday we are taking Al shopping for new windows for his house.

Carrie's house in the historic district. She has had her copper pipes stolen and her house stripped. She has to renovate to historic standards and restore.

Fridge delivery. We delivered a fridge and filled it with $200 worth of food.

New Orleans late afternoon traffic and thunder storms.

Elizabeth says "daddy don't eat that and I love you and miss you!!" FYI- that is in response to the picture of the mudding and taping team and Rus trying to eat some mud.....She doesn't miss a thing!! Have a great 4th of July.. We are praying for you!!

I feel a little guilty to have slept in this morning, done a couple of little jobs before turning on the computer, and to not have gotten to my "morning" blog check until just before noon. I'm sure that many of you will be sleeping in on Tuesday morning next week, and Wednesday, and.... You have earned it.

Holly's comments in a previous post were so true in my own short-term missions trips. Those emotions just flood you over the last day or so of the trip! While I had less than a day of travel to get back home from mine, though, you'll have a long transition time over 35+ hours on the train. That's going to be good - a natural "debriefing" time.

Although I've never done any strictly humanitarian trips, I'm going to venture that your involvement in this as a Christian venture is likely to heighten those feelings. Our Pre-K, Kind. and 1st grade memory verse right now is "Love the God will all your heart, (with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength)." Pre-K gets the shorter version. You're putting a lot more into this than just your strength - don't be surprised when your heart, soul, mind AND strength all react to the end of this year's mission.

That's my two cents for the day. I'm glad you've been able to disperse a whole lot more than that to the people there in NOLA. :-)

Praying for physical, emotional, and spiritual strength for your last two days on the ground there (Fri. and Sat.)

My longing to have you home again, Dali, is getting stronger as the night of your arrival comes closer.

Love, Bonnie
